A selection of some sculptures made over the years.

Everyday social scenes made of sand can be very effective. Here are some examples of "The Drunks in the Monastery", based on a 17th century Spanish painting, and a selection of pirates, gangsters, pool players and musicians chilling in bars.

Many people think of castles when they think of sand sculptures. They can be the most technically difficult to make but the results are very satisfying. Beside are representations of the Taj Mahal, La Sagrada Familia, the Great Wall of China, the Pyramids and a few others from imagination.

Copying exsting and instantly recognisable images will always draw attention but at the same time inaccuracies are quickly spotted. Here are some photos of the Simpsons in various situations. hopefully without too many mistakes!

Easter in Spain is a very big event and religiously themed sculptures are the order of the day. With such classic and well known images such as 'La Piedad' by Michelangelo or Da Vinci's 'Last Supper', it is easy to find inspiration to tentatively attempt to recreate these masterpieces in sand.

These sculptures don't really have a category, just a bit of fun!

Enjoy!
